Other Characters:NONE BLINDSPOT IS MY ONLY CHILD…Mitch Graham, Breakdown, Windshear, Soundwave------------------------------------------------------------------------------WHO ARE YOU?
Name: VC-207
Nicknames: Blindspot, or “Spot” for short
Age: Mentally and physically, he is a full-grown adult--the equivalent of early-to-mid 20s. However, because he was created artificially, he is actually quite young.
Gender: Mech
Route: Bisexual
Alignment: Decepticon
Status: He is a Vehicon Drone, so his function is whatever his superiors tell him it is. However, he informally functions as a field medic, and seeks permanent assignment as such.

Firepower: 1
Speed: 9
Rank: 2
Endurance: 6
Skill: 8------------------------------------------------------------------------------THE DETAILSBlindspot is more or less your typical Vehicon fare. He is a relatively tall, somewhat slender mech with a broad chest and long limbs. He is comprised mainly of angular dark purple plates, giving him the bristly, somewhat dangerous look that typifies Decepticon aesthetics. His face is an immobile, largely featureless mask slashed by the brilliant red of an optical strip; his arms end in wicked-taloned fingers which look best suited to tearing foes apart. Close inspection will reveal that Blindspot is subtly different, however, as he is ever-so-slightly slimmer than the average drone.
Though not part of his visual anatomy, the most distinct characteristic Blindspot possesses is his voice. Something has gone horribly wrong with his vocoder, reducing it to a soft rasp riddled with intermittent bursts of static. Blindspot is also somewhat absent-minded as far as his appearance goes. He is not a filthy mech, but he is inclined to be a bit scruffy, and very seldom goes through the trouble of working himself into a decent shine, unless admonished by a superior.
His alt mode is pretty freakin’ sweet. It is a low-slung sports car, so dark purple that it looks black except where the light reflects off of it at certain angles. The Decepticon emblem rests proudly on the front bumper. An unusual clattering noise rattles under his hood at all times, marring the otherwise smooth purr of his powerful engine. The sleek vehicle is dotted with glowing accents on the hubcaps, and sports a stylish spoiler in the back.
He has a vanity plate on his back bumper that reads, “HURRYUP.”------------------------------------------------------------------------------YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHO YOU'RE DEALING WITH
Likes:
- Science! Blindspot is very keenly interested in science of pretty much all types, though lately he has been focusing more on medical matters than anything else.
- Being useful. He is a very dedicated drone who genuinely enjoys pleasing his superiors. He loves being praised for a job well done.
- Reading of any kind. Though he often delves into scientific texts, Blindspot is also interested in whatever means of classical Cybertronian literature he can get his talons on, be it history, complex glyph-based poetry, or mythology.
- Driving! Half of the time Blindspot is content to be a quiet intellectual, but the moment his tires hit the asphalt, a switch flips somewhere inside him. He is extremely fast, and he knows it. He loves to feel the tug of the pavement against his wheels, to fling himself at the rushing air and drive, pushing himself to the limit of his abilities. It’s even better when he has someone to race with…
- Exploring. Blindspot is indiscriminately curious. He is interested in basically everything, and wants to see as much of Earth as he can.
Dislikes:
- His hands. They are clearly not made for detail work, but he has learned to heal rather than hurt with his talon-tipped fingers.
- Humans. Yeah, he pretty much straight-up hates humans. He thinks they are petty, inferior creatures, who have spent their millions of years of evolution destroying each other. They should welcome the rule of his glorious leader, Lord Megatron. The only exception to this rule is children; Blindspot treats all children of any species with care.
- Starscream. Blindspot will show the Air Commander due respect, but Starscream is more cavalier than most with the lives of Vehicons and Eradicons alike, and Blindspot finds him personally distasteful.
- Fighting. This is not a particularly useful thing for Blindspot to dislike, but he dislikes violence and is also absolutely terrible at fighting. Seriously, he couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn. He prefers to patch Cybertronians up rather than take them apart.
- Heights. He is a ground vehicle through and through and is terrified of heights.
- Being touched by humans. Blindspot will not willingly let a human touch him because he thinks they are disgusting. Even a child, which he might or might not be fond of, will be admonished if they touch him. Riding inside him is absolutely out of the question.
Personality: Blindspot is generally quiet. He will often communicate in hand gestures, or with simple nods and shakes of his head. Superiors sometimes have to request that he reply verbally. The reason for this is plain whenever he does deign to communicate verbally, via his painfully glitchy voice. When he does speak, however, he is cordial and very eloquent.
He is loyal to a fault, almost zealous, and firmly believes in Megatron’s leadership. If his race is ever going to rise from the depths which it has sunk, it will need a leader ferocious enough to claw his way out of the pit. Megatron is that leader. He is aware that, as a mere drone, he is considered largely disposable, but still considers his time serving Megatron to be an honor.
He does not hate the opposition, instead thinking that the Autobots are being short-sided and foolish in their refusal to accept Megatron’s authority. Their coddling handling of humankind is even worse. He sees no reason why humans should be regarded as anything other than a nuisance in the quest for more Energon. It isn’t as if humankind is using it anyway; besides, their failure to develop technology capable of utilizing the valuable resource is, in his opinion, a sign of their inherent weakness and inferiority. They have spent their evolutionary cycle squabbling amongst themselves, hindering their own advancement. They are not worthy of the resources their planet yields.
His feelings towards humans that have joined the Decepticon cause are conflicted. On the one hand, they are rare exceptions to the general selfishness of mankind, but on the other, he is not sure he trusts them. After all, humans can’t even trust other humans, so why should he?
All in all, he'd rather see the Autobots admit the error of their ways and submit to Megatron's authority; only when this conflict has been put to rest can their race truly begin its recovery, which is his primary concern. Blindspot feels that his people should be concentrating on rebuilding their broken empire.
He is a very intelligent drone, and this has shaped most of his development. He has focused his studies on medical practices. Through experience and a bit of research, he has managed to make a decent field medic of himself, specializing in reaching patients in dangerous situations and stabilizing them long enough to be delivered to the Decepticons’ CMO, Knock Out.
Blindspot’s scientific curiosity has also pushed him to self-experimentation. He had altered his form to suit his combat style (details under Weapons), and has been known to partially dissect parts of his body to satisfy some investigative whim or other (he does this, of course, with the deactivation of certain pain-producing nodes). This, combined with his soft, raspy voice, give him a generally creepy vibe. Many Decepticons leave him alone for this very reason.
Blindspot has accepted his role as a disposable soldier, and will willingly allow his life to be spent if it is done so in a way that furthers the Decepticon cause. He does not approve, however, of frivolous waste of Vehicon lives, and will actively avoid commanders who treat their drones with excessive cruelty. His greatest fear is not death on the battlefield--it is capture.
Strengths: Personality-wise--Blindspot is intelligent and very clever. He thinks well on his feet, and retains information with almost freaky precision. He is also very determined, and quite brave, putting the needs of wounded comrades before his own. He is very loyal to his leaders, and can be expected to do what he is told within reason. Though most of the time Blindspot is easy to push around, he becomes very assertive when he needs to get a patient to behave.
Physically--Blindspot has an unique ability (see Weapons for details) that makes him extremely hard to hit. He is insanely fast, and very nimble, able to run rings around slower ‘bots and generally avoid damage on the battlefield.Recall Protocl: The Recall Protocol is something installed in some of the older drones. The basics of it are that, if the controls of a drone are seized in alt-mode, then that drone must submit to the control of the pilot (or driver) until such time as the controls are released. It was used, during wartime, to help immobilized drones get back to base (through the exploitation of minicons). Since Blindspot was created very late in the war, he does not possess the Recall Protocol. If someone managed to wrangle their way inside of him and try and drive him, they will find themselves with a very, very pissed-off Vehicon who is still in control of his body.
Weaknesses: Personality-wise--His loyalty can and does blind him to the truth: that Megatron has become the very thing he once sought to fight. He is extremely passive, and this means that superiors can get away with kicking him around quite a bit before he sticks up for himself. He doesn't possess the viciousness that it takes to impress his leaders. He lacks initiative, and when put in a position where he is required to make decisions for himself, he often struggles to cope. He tends to creep his fellows out, even though he’s harmless.
Physically--Blindspot had traded the protection of thick armor for speed. When he is finally hit, he takes it hard, and it often only takes a few shots to knock Blindspot out of a fight. In addition, being cornered ends badly for him, because it marks the beginning and end of any fight; he is physically weak. He won’t be winning any wrestling matches anytime soon. In addition, he hardly ever fires on his opponents. Encounters with him are never lethal, though they can often be embarrassing.------------------------------------------------------------------------------THE SKELETONS IN YOUR CLOSET
Family: None. He is a mass-produced drone. He does have a few friends, though, most notable of which is a miner known as Switchback, of whom he is particularly fond; Switchback is the closest thing Blindspot has to a brother.
History: Blindspot was a nameless, faceless drone for much of his early life. There was absolutely nothing to set him apart from his fellows except for his intelligence and his curiosity, neither of which were evident unless one took the time to get to know him, which, needless to say, was not something that happened often. Vehicon drones don’t have much in the way of free time, but everyone is given a break to recharge, and he would often cut his short by an hour or two, spending that time volunteering in the Nemesis’s medbay.
Decepticons are not, as a rule, nurturing creatures, but everyone needs repair and maintenance every now and then. Hands-on experience combined with an access to basic medical resources and an uncommonly keen mind shaped him into a decent medic, though as of yet none of his superiors have officially re-assigned him to a full-time medical position, or given him extra training.
It was during a mission that he acquired the wound that would pave his way towards distinction. A shot nearly ended his life and badly damaged his vocal processor along with a few other systems connected to his internal gyroscope. The wound did not cause any catastrophic damage to him, but it did absolutely mangle his voice. At first he did not seek further repair because he felt it an unnecessary waste of resources. On his next mission he was to act as a courier. He was nearly caught by an Autobot, but in a fit of desperation gunned his engine to try and overtake his foe, when with a painful grinding sensation he activated his ability for the first time (details under Weapons).
Since then, he has used it on every mission he’s been sent on. He has proven his worth a handful of times by breaking enemy lines to assist pinned-down Decepticons to offer supplies and medical aid, but as of yet he doesn’t think he’s really caught the attention of his superiors, which doesn’t bother him.
The name “Blindspot” is a reference to his ability to slip away from enemies using his agility and his special ability; it was given to him by a Decepticon miner (Switchback) that he assisted once after having (admittedly showily) barreled past three Autobot scouts to reach him. He always seemed to be just out of their reach, or just too quick for them to catch, which prompted Switchback to remark, as he finally pulled up, that he had been a “Moving blind spot” out on the field. The name stuck.
Among those who he is friendly (likely only other drones and perhaps some of the medical staff) he is known as “Spot.”------------------------------------------------------------------------------IS THAT ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY?
Weaponry: Blindspot’s most useful weapon is not his standard-issue blaster. It stems from a wound he sustained while on one of the early Earth missions for Starscream (details are in History above). Something about the frequency of sound generated from his mangled internal systems scrambles the perceptive systems of mechs around him--his outline will blur wildly, his electronic signature will become erratic and undependable, flooding any enemy's HUD with crazy error messages the longer they focus on him. He calls this his Sonic Scrambler.
The Sonic Scrambler works best in alt mode, but he can activate it in his ‘bot form as well. The longer he keeps it active, the more intense the effects become. There is, however a catch: it hurts him. Pain begins to manifest as a dull ache around twenty minutes, and deepens to Spark-deep agony after about forty five. Because of this, he tends to use the ability in bursts. In addition, the method in which is wound healed that gave him his Sonic Scrambler has also rendered his damaged vocoder irreparable.
He uses this along with his natural speed and agility to avoid enemies. When he is deployed, it is often to bring aid to a pinned-down outpost or to give emergency first-aid to a Decepticon agent in a compromising situation. Therefore, he usually has to worm his way past enemy lines, and he succeeds by being a consummate escape artist. He is fast, he is tricky, and he loves nothing more than running rings around those plodding Autobots and seeing them plant their faces in the dirt.
His distinctive engine-rattle and his tendency never to fire on an enemy (a waste of energy he could use to boost his speed or sustain his ability) ironically make him more recognizable to his enemies than his teammates. Among the Decepticons, he is just another Vehicon, but when he’s facing off against Autobots, he’s “that annoying rattling Vehicon who’s always trying to get past us.”
Extra: -Blindspot quite likes music, even human music, and in particular has a taste for classic rock and jazz. He also particularly likes horses.
-In addition, he has very, very strong latent paternal instincts. Since sparklings are virtually nonexistent during the war, they have never been triggered, but even human young can send him into full-blown mother-hen mode.
-There are some minor limitations on Blindspot's free will. He can disobey the order of a superior if he chooses, but it is unpleasant for him, and he will often feel guilty later, even if he was justified in disobeying. In addition, his self-preservation instincts become second priority when he is in the presence of a miner. He has been programmed to protect them and defend them, and he will always put himself between a miner and harm's way.

Theme Music: Galaxy Eater by Mayhem------------------------------------------------------------------------------WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT METhe air was thick with the promise of an oncoming storm. Blindspot could feel it, feel the tingle of ozone on the edges of his sensors and the wet churn of the air as it rushed over his frame. It was four minutes until midnight, he was doing 85mph down Louisiana’s I-49, and a storm was stalking the horizon, ready to unleash its fury on the black highway beneath.
It was all terribly exciting.
The drone was relatively certain that he wasn’t going to get struck by lightening, but he reasoned to himself as he swerved around a car that wasn’t going quite as fast he would have liked that, even if he did, it would certainly be an experience, wouldn’t it? The driver behind him honked its horn in irritation, but Blindspot ignored it. Humans couldn’t be expected to enjoy a night drive to its fullest. What were they doing out on the road on a night like this, anyway? Didn’t storms send them running for their primitive and laughably flimsy dwellings?
The wail of a siren interrupted his thoughts. Scrap, it was a highway patrolman--or, more accurately, it was another highway patrolman. This wasn't the first time he'd seen the familiar flashing blue light in his rear view mirror. Blindspot told himself that one day he would need to actually learn Earth speed limits.
But not tonight. He gunned his engine in challenge, gleefully tearing through the storm-tossed air as Louisiana’s finest roared after him in pursuit. There was no harm in having a little fun on his way back to base.
