A New Home (Tanya/Cira?/Open)

((If this thread goes well, we miiiiiiight make it IC, but until them. Winglet, what I'm putting at the top here is, as you can probably tell, a date. We keep a timeline here so that what happens to our character can be easier kept in order - I'd suggest you keep track of said timeline, too. This is required at the start of every thread - just a reminder, of course, that is in the rules - which you were SUPPOSED to read.))
((March 15^st, 2025, NEST Base main area))

Alexis was visiting the new NEST base for the last time, in a long time. Fairly soon here she planned to leave for her mission - and her disguise was finished. She wasn't wearing the matching clothing, but many of the changes were visible anyway. Her hair had been died a caramel color, with red streaks peppering it, cut into a short, spiky kind of style. She had been aiming for a kind of rebel, fighter look - getting into character had been fun. Several piercings, a new tattoo, and an entirely new clothing style - not to mention speech style, which she had practiced, and could slip in and out of quickly, and an entirely new skill set to go with. A new nose piercing, two studs in her right ear, one in her left - belly button, two. It hadn't exactly been FUN getting into THAT part of her character, but it was all part of the ploy - that bitchy tom boy attitude with the wild teen life who'd never quite grown up? That kind of attitude, had to come from somewhere.

The not-currently-blond had more reason for being here than that, though. A teenager from a family she'd recently befriended had been in search of a job - and her skills as a computer and electronics wiz were something that Alexis thought might help out here. She wasn't trained, so much of her work would be low level stuff for a good while, but she was a natural at this stuff - college degree or no, the kid was a bit of a genius. Wearing cargo pants and a black tank top, Alexis had taken her time to show the kid around to her new place. She was also keeping an eye out for Cira and Mike to introduce them - she'd already talked to them about Tanya, but she still needed to actually introduce them.

"Welcome to the NEST base - our hub of operations. If you follow me, I'll give you a quick walk-around, introduce you to a few of the people." Alexis set a brisk pace, knowing that Tanya could keep up - and not particularly caring if she couldn't. Let the girl run after her, Alexis wanted time to relax after this.

Following the brisk pace Alexis had set, she looked around at her new surroundings. This was a heck of a lot different than the run down shack she was used to. Hammy was running excitedly up and down her arm, sniffing everything, and enjoying the ride. she was really looking forward to exploring and meeting new people. As they walked along, Tanya had a squirming feeling in the pit of her stomach. Yes, a lot of it had to do with excitement, but a lot of it also had to do with nerves. What was going to happen? Who all would she meet? Did she even have the level of knowledge for this?

The blinding excitement also was a big thing. This would be her job now! Looking around the base, she felt her smile growing wider. She felt a strange sense of eagerness to get to work. Bouncing as she walked, she interrupted Alexis's running commentary of whats what and bombarded her with questions.

"Do they have a computer room here? If so, will I be working there? Can someone train me in hand to hand combat? Oh yeah, thanks for showing me around! You said that you were leaving pretty soon, right? Where are you going?" Tanya asked eagerly.

"Did someone say hand to hand combat? I can help with that!" Cira suddenly rushed into the scene, a Rockstar in hand. She was still addicted to energy drinks of late while helping with the construction of the base. She had heard Alexis was still around a bit longer, so she thought she'd check in and see if the woman needed help with anything in specific. "Hey Alexis!" she greeted, having known her well enough by now she could feel comfortable in calling her by her first name.

"So another new recruit, sweet! I'm Cira Knight one'a the other founders of NEST. Contracted A10 and C130 pilot, and Parkour Master at yer service!" she held out a hand in greeting, excited to see a steady flow of new recruits coming into the new base.

Raising an eyebrow at Tanya, she started carefully, her signature amused smirk on her face. "If I told ya where ah was goin', ah'd have ta kill ya." Cira had shown up too, right on cue. The poor woman had been running rampant on energy drinks - she was due to crash a long time ago. Alexis almost felt guilty that she couldn't really be down here to help much, things came up - and she'd known this was coming from the beginning.

"Hey Cira! How are things going on base? You guys have been busy, I see." With a quick gesture around the establishment, Alexis grinned her constantly lopsided grin, glancing around casually, before refocusing. "This is Tanya - friend of a friend, needed a job. She's a genius when it comes to electronics, gadgets, and computer stuff. I'm thinking she'll have a place here, somewhere."

Alexis gave a short wink at Tanya. Alexis herself was very used to the squirrel that had hitched a ride on Tanya, and so was used to the little beast's excitement, though she wasn't entirely sure how other people would react, but, as long as the squirrel didn't chew on things, it would probably be fine.

Tanya bounded forward to shake Cira's hand, and as she did, Hammy jumped off of her shoulder and landed on Cira's.
"Hi! I'm Tanya Turner! I wouldn't say that I'm a genius, though."
Bouncing on the balls of her feet, she looked around her. She was still amazed that she was here right now. She didn't know that things would be this big, or this high tech. This was a heck of a lot different than where she grew up. She would have to email her father about it and explain to him every single detail of the NEST base.

"I'd love it if you helped train me, Miss Knight, and I'm really excited to be here right now! Is this alliance classified? I don't wanna get in trouble."

"We could certainly use more people with skills like yours. and I'd be happy to get you started with some training whenever yer ready. And yes, it is classified, as it is, it's pretty hard to leave the base unless you snatch a dun buggy, four wheeler, or an aircraft after all. Gotta fly in vertically or drive in from above via a ramp an' all." Cira said with a nod and a smile. but Just seconds before as she approached them, she had realized the cute little animal on her shoulder. She was able to refrain from squealing over it in excitement...until the cute little thing jumped on her shoulder. "Well hi there squirrel! You are so cute! Welcome to the crew! Just please don't go chewing on wires now, we got lots of expensive stuff!" Her thoughts drifted to the subject on Alexis leaving just before the squirrel decided to say hi, but she decided she wasn't going to say much on the matter.

Of course, Cira knew the squirrel wouldn't understand her, but she still couldn't help but be excited about it. "I have never seen someone with a pet squirrel before. This little fuzz ball is adorable! What's his name?" she asked as she glanced at the squirrel perched on her shoulder. So adorable! He/she reminded her of Rufus from Kim Possible and the thought made her smile.

Alexis smiled, watching the interactions. She really didn't have anything to contribute to this particular conversation, and she had not been directly addressed. Instead, she shifted her weight, standing on one leg, fist against her opposite hip, not intending to look bored - just relaxed, her blue eyes ever vigilant. She really hoped that Tanya would fit in here; most of what they had were fighters; they had little to do with technology except what they needed to know to perform their roles successfully - though that was admittedly significantly more than the average person in many cases. Tanya, however, was much more specialized - and not at all a warrior. However, NEST needed whatever they could get at the moment; they'd aim for the best, though, and Alexis was confident that Tanya could rise to the occasion.

Tanya looked over at Cira Night as she enthused about Hammy.
"His name is Hammy. I rescued him from our cat when I was younger," she told Ms. Night. "He is really well trained, he doesn't chew on things any more. And he is easy to feed!" She glanced at Alexis and around her. Once again she was hit with the full force of her exitment. Bouncing on the balls of her feet, she said, "Hammy, come," At wich the red squirell leaped from Cira's shoulder back to hers.

"Hee that is absolutely adorable!" Cira then changed the subject back to the general topic of 'fitting in' and 'training'. "By da way, I know someone back at mah home base who would be thrilled ta meet ya sometime. He's a tech and researcher quite like you, but he's a bit older...still, networking is always good, right? SO about that training, how about we start with a cardio kickboxing warm up?" Cira grinned. "It's always good to focus on stamina first." Cira glanced at Alexis. "Yer welcome to join us if ya wanna. I know how to lead these things and it's more fun in numbers!"
