She hadn't ever asked him anything like this before; it was a serious question. Nobody asked him serious questions. This actually required that he think back to it, and he'd been doing his best not to do that; the way the system attached to him, forced him to work for it - it was so invasive, and yet it had gotten to him. He'd LET it get to him - it and GLaDOS both. It had been his first real slap in the face since he'd been created, the first thing that had really told him how simple minded he was - though, of course, that lesson was still a bit hard for him to swallow. Facing the source directly wasn't exactly pleasant - just like he'd been scared to enter GLaDOS' chamber after waking Chell up. However, with a short nod, he had an answer fairly quickly.

"There is a massive assortment of projects that she was working on outside of the cooperative testing. She seems to be pretty focused on motion, though, aside from her occasional dabble into the, erm, physiology, of the human body. Though... None of what she worked on has anything to do with these two. Either they're new from her, or there's something else going on, which they would probably know, and just haven't told us. I swear, they're all the same, never tell us anything." This was followed by a short "shake of his head" - his 'eyelids' closing briefly as his entire eye moves slightly down and side to side. Facial expressions for him have got to be very dizzying, but he'd never complained about it, so that was something.

Tenna was perfectly inclined to giggling. Whatever discussion the other two were having was not hers - though her sister was quick to force her to sit quiet and, for the sake of survival, stop squirming! They didn't want to look like little kids, they wanted to be left alone. Tenna didn't like that. Maybe her sister would be happy if the human went away? How did they usually get curious humans to go away? Sometimes they'd just sit there, but that wasn't working... Maybe if they acted scary?

She decided to switch her act now, oblivious to the fact that it obviously wouldn't work. "Wooooooo! We are the scary evil button twins! Beware our button-y powers! OooOOoo- OW!" A sharp squeeze from Teppa was enough to shut her up though. Okay, fine. She could have a turn. Finally shutting up and sitting still, she would mutter crossly before another 'pinch' shut her up.

Teppa was getting a bit fed up with Tenna. Why did her twin act like such a little kid? It was very, VERY annoying. It was even a bit hard to keep track of where her thought process went. How the hell did she think playing to role of evil button was going to get them anywhere? They weren't exactly scary, even if their armor was incredibly thick and resistant. No weapons in button form, and not very good ones in cat form - just teeth and claws. After finally getting Tenna to shut up, she made a quick decision, pushing both of the cats out of button mode and rolling out from under Chell's hands - toward her, sending her sister in the opposite, safer direction, before quickly snagging ground and forcing herself out of her immediate proximity as quickly as possible, moving to stand fairly protectively, if not obviously hostile, by her sister.

"We're no product of hers... Actually, if there was any one entity that brought us about, it was Mr. Chatterball over there - creation via destruction. Now what do you want?" Her voice was much more guarded than her sisters - as Tenna was busy flipping about fairly fish like in the dirt, her cat-like reflexes obviously failing her and making her sister's serious and somewhat dramatic show much less effective. The two only stood about mid-thigh on Chell, their white and red coloring reverse of each other, glowing optics just as expressive as Wheatley's eye, if the difference between the two cats was anything to go by - Tenna's wide-eyed surprise and flustered innocence coupled by Teppa's narrowed suspicion. However, despite everything, it was pretty clear neither of them had been around for a very long time, despite how dirt-encrusted their armored feline forms were.

Chell merely gave Wheatley an unamused look at the comment about him creating them. Well, he'd failed to mention that one. She did frown at the more suspicious cat's question though. It seemed extremely hostile, yet neither she nor Wheatley had made any sort of threat towards either of them. It didn't seem logical to her. Then again, maybe the fierce cat was just very protective of the playful cat. She couldn't argue with that.

The young woman turned to Wheatley again, entrusting him to be her translator just in case these cats didn't understand her. 'Tell them we don't mean any harm, we were just out for a walk and bumped into them.' She signed, then thought for a few moments, and continued. 'But if they don't feel safe out here, I can offer them a place to stay for a while.' She wouldn't let them hang around outside, since the button disguise didn't really work so well. And no way was she sending them back to GLaDOS.

Wheatley didn't like that look. Or that accusation. He had done no such thing! He would think he would remember that. Of course, he would think he would remember a lot of things, and somehow, he didn't remember them until it was too late. Checking up on the humans in the relaxation center, for example. But before he could defend himself, she started signing to him to translate. "Erm... We don't want to hurt you, we were just out on a walk and... You were there. She is offering a place to stay for a while, if you need." That could be interesting. Glancing between the three of them, he continued.

"Can we back up a step though? I did what? I don't remember any cat buttons, and I think that would be something I would remember, because my best concerted effort at walking objects was pretty much an abject failure. A... lot of what I do pretty much ends that way. So the chances of you two having anything to do with me, is very slim. Just to make things clear." With a nod, he was glad to have gotten that out there, and was interested in the cats' responses, because this affected him too now, and he really didn't want to have to explain something that he didn't remember. He had done a lot of thinking in space. At least, before he remembered that it would be far easier to just rest in sleep mode for a good while - however, even that meant he'd be going through memory files, and that was still a bit more introspection than he really wanted, and he still knew nothing about cats.

Tenna was left scrambling in the dirt after being suddenly ejected from team button form maximus, and it took her a moment to regain her usual cat-like agility, scrambling up from her sprawled position, peeking out from behind Teppa with wide eyes. "Mrs. Lady Ma'am, I think that's the nicest thing anybody's ever offered us. We don't mean any harm, my sister here is just a bit paranoid is all." She 'grinned' as best as a cat can - it was meant to be friendly, but may not come across as such - before looking to her sister. "Teppa, we have to accept. I know you don't like being out here with all of these dangerous people and their machines."

With a 'smile' she would step forward slightly and sit down beside her sister. She was like a little kid, but even kids had manners. Sometimes.

Noticing that Tenna had ignored Wheatley's little add on comment, she did the same. It was nice, that Tenna finally decided to be mature about it. "... For once, I agree with her. If it is not a major imposition... Then it would be nice to rely on the kindness of a stranger. An enemy of my enemy is, after all, my friend." Unlike Tenna, Teppa had learned how to connect to the internet. All Tenna knew was from Teppa. As such, Teppa was fairly knowledgeable, considering her age. She was technically a sparkling, after all. A sparkling created amidst chaos, but still a sparkling.

With that, she stood up and walked up to Chell, slowly, hesitantly, obviously still slightly not trusting of this new woman. "... If you hurt her, though, you will have a very unhappy kitty. You got me?" She can't wholeheartedly make that threat; she actually does kind of like this person, and shows it by making a very cat-like gesture, and rubbing her head against her leg shortly, before sitting down beside Wheatley. Cats were always very strange creatures, and Teppa and Tenna were no exceptions.

Unsure what to believe at that present moment, Chell shrugged it off. She could press Wheatley later to see if he remembered anything from his time in the body of GLaDOS. Those memories hurt her as much as they probably hurt him, but she was just a little curious. It'd be nice to know who actually made these cats, so that if they were a product of the female AI back at the facility, she could protect them from her. As best as she could, anyway.

A reassuring nod was the answer to Teppa's attempt at a threat. Chell knew it wasn't entirely forceful; she had learned how to recognize various tones a very long time ago. With the decision made, she bent down again to pick up Wheatley, before standing up and motioning with her head for the two cats to follow. Once she was sure they would, she set off for her home once again. Fuzzy would definitely be confused as to how many metallic things she was bringing home.
