General SPC Information

Your typical miner! He's significantly shorter than the Eradicons or Vehicons (at only about thirteen or so feet), with a slightly stockier build. His face is comprised of a sturdy mask slashed by three red optic bands. His plates are a lighter purple that the deep color that adorns most of the Vehicons' frames. Like the Vehicons and Eradicons, hs has longish arms tipped with taloned fingers, though his are shorter and blunter to allow him more dexterity.

Age: Unknown, but he was apparently built before the great war, so older than most drones and many miners.

Personality: Pretty darn laid-back. Switchback, when alone, is a quiet fellow, but he is quick to dispense advice or to make wry comments when in friendly company. He is smart enough to keep his head low when his superiors are in a bad mood. He is fairly good at reading people, and is also a very keen judge of character.

He is friendly to those he doesn't deem a threat, and easy to get along with. He is patient and tolerant, especially with younglings or “new” drones. He has no particular grudge against humans, but is quite leery of Autobots.

Likes:

• Being treated like more than a hunk of scrap metal.
  
• Other easygoing mechs or femmes; he likes to be around people he can relax with.
  
• Blindspot! He is especially close to that particular drone. The two of them are like brothers.

• The current state of the Decepticon forces; they aren't what they used to be, and they don't fight for what they used to.
  

Strengths: He has no combat strengths. Switchback's greatest strength is his companionable personality. He's not hard to get along with, and his relaxed air makes others feel they can trust him. Oftentimes, they can. This has also drawn some powerful allies to his side in the past. He is also very loyal to his friends—Switchback will stick up for those he cares about if they are in trouble, regardless of the ramifications of his actions.

Weaknesses: He's a servant-class mech, so he can't really fight. He can sort of defend himself with his blaster, but he would quickly go down under heavy artillery. He relies on the drones for physical backup. Personality-wise, he is less likely to stick up for himself as he is for others.

Fears: The loss of his friends and adopted family; sometimes, he fears the Autobots winning the war, but lately, he has begun to fear the prospect of the Decepticons winning the war...

Also, he is a it timid of heights; he was made to burrow, not to fly, but he doesn't have a phobia of them (unlike Blindspot).

Weaponry: Standard-issue miner's blaster. Does moderate damage, but it is clearly a weapon of last resort.

History: Switchback is a mech who knows where he stands. He lived through the hell that was the laborer pits of Kaon, and when Megatron rose to power, bringing revolution at his heels, the miner gladly followed. He has never been a fighter, and never will be. As the war has died down from vicious battles to occasional skirmishes in the middle of hunts for energon, he has settled into a relatively peaceful drudgery of labor.

He has accepted the fact that Megatron has lost his ideals. There is simply nothing he can do about that. The best he can manage is to look out for his fellow miners as well as the drones that protect them. Over the years he has become aprticularly close to one quiet and inquisitive drone in particular, VC-207. He even casually nicknamed the drone, and the nickname ended up being the name that the drone went by: Blindspot.

Holoform Appearance: Doesn't got one!

Alt Mode: His alt-mode is a Cybertronian all-terrain vehicle; it hiovers a short distance off the ground, making it easy to navigate through rocky terrain. It is blocky and purple, with a good deal of angular glowing accents to make it easy to see in low-light environments. One look at it is enough to see that it is most definitely not an Earth vehicle.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: I have no intention of killing off Switchback, but he IS killable; if he gets into a bad situation, he could very well die. I will try to keep this from happening, because poor Spot would be sparkbroken, but just noting--it could happen. >;|
